The V-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft known for its unique ability to combine the advantages of a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft. This means it can take off and land vertically like a helicopter, but once airborne, its engine nacelles can rotate forward, allowing it to fly with the speed and range of a conventional airplane. Over 400 V-22 Ospreys have been built. Specifically, the program of record included nearly 481 aircraft. The Marine Corps operates the majority of these, with around 360 MV-22s. The Air Force and Navy also operate smaller numbers of the CV-22 and HV-22 variants.
